KDUR - Four Corners Arts Forum with Margy Dudley

March, 11th 2023

Mariah Kaminsky, a fine art surrealist painter and mural artist has been instrumental in making the town of Durango a beautiful place to enjoy the visual arts. You can find her oil paintings in Eolus Bar and Restaurant, the Durango Coffee Company and the Animas Chocolate Company. She has participated in multiple exhibitions at the Studio & Gallery as well. Her paintings include people portraits, aerial acrobats and floral compositions. Some of the larger ones which can be found on the walls at Eolus are images of landscapes from the air taken from maps and created with paints and textured materials. Much of Mariah’s earliest training came from Ball State University’s Design/Technical Theatre program learning to be a scenic artist in her home state of Indiana. She has continued her studies with workshops by Tony Ryder in Santa Fe, NM and Michael Shane Niel in Nashville, TN. Mariah has also painted multiple large murals around Durango and in the town of Cortez but she also works to restore older historic murals. Her most recent project is a collaboration working with nine other professional mural artists on The Walls Project to beautify the Santa Rita Water Treatment Facility which will also include sculptures by local artists. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America and The International Guild of Realism and through the online gallery 33 Contemporary Gallery, she had the opportunity to send two pieces of her artwork to the moon in a time capsule on the lunar lander Odysseus in February! www.lunarcodex.com
